Neurodiverse Social-Adult Group is a Social Program for 16 years plus. The Program focuses on building and maintaining friendship skills in group activities.
Activities include:
Pizza Party with crafts & games
Wood Buffalo Regional Library
Bowling at The Alley YMM
Sensory Friendly Movie
Games and activities night
Sensory time
These activities are held twice a week on Tuesday’s 12pm to 2pm and Thursday night 6pm to 8pm.
***Please note there are no respite workers for these sessions only facilitators.***

PEERS - Friday Friends
Six-week, facilitator-led social skills program (based on PEERS) for youth aged 10-14yrs. Each week youth will learn and practice a range of friendship skills such as: conversational skills, appropriate use of humour, electronic communications, handling bullying, etc.
Youth must attend all six sessions and complete skill assessment at end to 'graduate' program.

This is a 2 hour training session is facilitated by the Autism Society of the RMWB. During this 2 hour session you will learn how to support individuals of all ages living with disabilities throughout their life span. Training is appropriate for caregivers, professionals, family, friends, employers and coworkers, and anyone who supports someone living with a disability, or wants to expand their knowledge of neurodiverse individuals. This training will offer a certification upon completion.
During a crisis situation, individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) can present staff with unique challenges. Autism Spectrum Disorders: Applications of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Training enhances support worker's ability to the skills to see crises through the eyes of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and the confidence to support by providing Care, Welfare, Safety and Security.
This session is designed to focus on prevention, by providing staff with proven strategies for safely defusing anxious, hostile, or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage. The program incorporates a variety of autism-specific skills, such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), functional behavioral assessment, and support for individuals with self-injurious behavior.
